I’m a Geophysicist and I’m currently occupied with my PhD about faults in California (advisor: Sara Carena) which I model with the program SHELLS from Peter Bird (UCLA).

I was given the opportunity to create the title image for the book Geophysical Continua from Brian L. N. Kennett and Hans-Peter Bunge. The image shows the temperature field of a mantle convection simulation done with TERRA; the plot has been created using Paraview, it contains isosurfaces at +400 K and −600 K, the surface is from the ETOPO dataset (land: 15 times exaggerated).
